Event overview

Entering its 19th year, The Annual Sunrise to Sunset Challenge will be held in Shrewsbury again at The Shrewsbury Cycle Track. Run as far as you can between sunrise and sunset – whether it's 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, or Ultra. Get your lap card stamped every lap and have fun!

There will be music, food and drinks galore to keep you entertained during the day and to push you towards your end-of-year challenge target.

The idea of the race is for runners to run as far as they can (or want to) between the hours of Sunrise (8.20) and Sunset (16.01), the winner being the runner who records the furthest distance. The race follows a purpose-built 1 km cycle track. From experience, this is a fast course and of course, the big hill from Lightmoor has been flattened out somewhat!

Great race with a very wide range of distances. Very friendly runners, great organisation and aid station. Anonymous

Good event. Good atmosphere. The volunteers were exceptional throughout even though it was a bitterly cold day. Ian C

A lovely, friendly and well organised event. Malcolm C

Fantastic. Thank you so much. It made my day. Craig G

Great location, event and great organisation with a variety of running distances for newcomers and seasoned runners alike. Very well organised offering runners a range of distances from 5k to ultra. Great support from organisers and volunteers making it a great experience. As it is a lap formation, you pass the supporting staff and well stocked aid station many times, with organisers counting laps so you can run free. Facilities are also great as it is a leisure centre with a cafe and toilets on site. You also get a great medal. The other runners are very supportive as you pass them often. Paul D
