Around 40,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer each year. On 29th March, as the sun sets, walk together and shine a light on blood cancer. So, dress up in lights, shine brightly and join in at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham for Walk of Light.

Talks
It's exciting to announce that Blood Cancer UK-funded researcher Dr Aidan Haslam and his team are attending Walk of Light Birmingham to give a talk about his research into MGUS (monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance) and myeloma. Talks will begin at 6pm on the stage.
I’m researching the impact of certain complex chemicals, found naturally circulating in the blood of all people, on MGUS and myeloma.
Without funding from Blood Cancer UK, none of this work would be possible. It’s thanks to support from people like you that I’ve been able to take time out of my clinical training as a doctor and undertake this PhD. This allows me to both treat patients and research how to improve our treatments.

Ability
This event is for everyone, people of all abilities can take part, and the event is accessible to both wheelchair users and pushchairs.
Teams
It's easy to register a team! Team Leaders simply need to make sure that every member of the team registers for the event, paying their registration fee.
Ramadan
This year, Walk of Light falls during Ramadan and Blood Cancer UK would love for you to still attend the event if you're observing Ramadan. There will be a dedicated quiet area for prayer, and dates and water will be provided to break your fast.
Dogs
Well-behaved dogs on leads are allowed. There must be one adult per dog at all times.

The car park is a short walk away from the event village, follow the Blood Cancer UK signs. The car park is pay and display (7am – 11.30pm) and costs £3.30 for up to 4 hours. This entrance to the park is next to the Midlands Arts Centre.

I’m taking part in Walk of Light Birmingham to raise money for Blood Cancer UK and to shine a light on every person with blood cancer. I found out I had Hodgkin lymphoma (a type of blood cancer) in January 2024. I want to take my diagnosis and make something good out of it.
