I’m doing Walk of Light because my husband Jack died of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) 12 months ago. It’s just nice to be with likeminded people, people that know what you’ve been through, what you’re going through. People that understand. Kath, Walk of Light Birmingham, 2023

I’m taking part in Walk of Light Birmingham to raise money for Blood Cancer UK and to shine a light on every person with blood cancer. I found out I had Hodgkin lymphoma (a type of blood cancer) in January 2024. I want to take my diagnosis and make something good out of it.

I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new people at Walk of Light, sharing my experience and understanding other peoples’ experiences. I’ve invited my friends and family and we’re really looking forward to it. Nadine, Walk of Light Birmingham, 2024

Because my daughter saved my life by donating her stem cells and because I’m really grateful to be alive. Elizabeth, Walk of Light Birmingham, 2023

Me and my family & friends walked around Cannon Hill Park Birmingham, the event was amazing with so many people. We walked in memory of my daughter Natalie White, raising £1,745 and we’re thrilled to bits. Roll on next year, let’s do it again! Denise, Walk of Light Birmingham, 2023

Blood Cancer UK

Funding research and providing support to improve blood cancer patients' lives.

Blood Cancer UK is dedicated to beating blood cancer. They fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, the charity has invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day blood cancer is beaten is now in sight and researchers are determined to finish the job.

Light the way to beat blood cancer.

Around 40,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer each year so you're invited to join the Walk of Light event and get sponsored to support Blood Cancer UK.

Because together we can be the generation to beat blood cancer.

I’m researching the impact of certain complex chemicals, found naturally circulating in the blood of all people, on MGUS and myeloma.

Without funding from Blood Cancer UK, none of this work would be possible. It’s thanks to support from people like you that I’ve been able to take time out of my clinical training as a doctor and undertake this PhD. This allows me to both treat patients and research how to improve our treatments.
