Event overview
The Watersons Hale 10K sees 2,000 runners take to the closed roads of Hale, Bowdon and Ashley for this much-anticipated edition of the race after selling out in advance for the last 2 years.
The certified 10km course is superb, starting in Hale and leading through the centre of the thriving village before heading out to Ashley, along the picturesque country lanes, and finishing in the grounds of the magnificent Ashley Hall.
There is also the Ashley 3K race too in the grounds of Ashley Hall for the younger runners who want to experience a fun but professional race fully closed off to traffic, just over an hour before the 10K.

Overview
Starting in the picture-book village of Hale, South Manchester, crossing the iconic railway crossing and taking centre stage through the main village high street. The race then heads out into the picturesque countryside of Ashley, weaving through the country lanes, past the much-loved Greyhound Public House, before entering the south gates of Ashley Hall and finishing in the hall's spectacular grounds.
Itโs a fantastic course that benefits from a full road closure from start to finish and is a certified 10K. The opportunity to run through a traffic-free Hale village is not one to be missed, and judging by the lively, euphoric response this year, the next race is going to be a great occasion.
The Watersons Hale 10K is a memorable event with a fantastic atmosphere. Join a great day of running and celebrations with the first big 10K of the new year!
Description
Itโs a fantastic fully closed road course with very little elevation gain. Starting on South Downs Road the race heads north west towards Bowdon Cricket & Hockey Club before turning right onto Marlborough Road, passing Altrincham Grammar and then turning right at the Bowdon traffic lights on Ashley Road.
The race then travels along Ashley Road, past the clock tower and over the railway heading straight down the road past all the shops and restaurants before heading out into the Ashley countryside. Just after 4km the route forks left down Castle Mill Lane, until a right turn down Back Lane just before 6km.
At the end of Back Lane the race turns right onto Tanyard Lane and left onto Castle Mill Lane again heading the opposite direction. This is where the lead runners will be visible to the main field of runners with the road split into 2. At the junction the route takes a left turn onto Cow Lane, following the road under the M56 and into Ashley village. At The Greyhound Pub the route goes right onto the Knutsford road, passing Ashley Station and then turning right into the South Gate of Ashley Hall.
The race then continues along the private lane all the way to Ashley Hall and the finish.
