We Need to Talk About Chevin

To put simply, this is the worst possible scenario when touring the Chevin. We're talking a climb right out of the blocks to Surprise View, then down, up, down, up, up, up, then fly back.

Event overview

We Need To Talk About Chevin is to put simply the worst possible scenario when touring the Chevin.

Starting on Station Road with the first climb right out of the blocks heading straight up to Surprise View. Then right down to The West Gate and up again, then onwards to the famous Danefield climb then down to a loop of Poolscar Wood. The Far Eastern point is The Fells Plantation where you climb up alongside the power lines and back to Chevin Forest Park before making the final climb up Miller Lane and absolutely fly back down to Jonny Lane Back and Station Road.

The race starts and finishes on Station Road, but registration and post-race refreshments come courtesy of The Black Horse, a fine pub with a courtyard ideal for post-race celebration and tales of your adventure.

The race is classified as a Category BM fell race with 650 metres over 14km / 2130ft over 9 Miles. It's not for the faint-hearted!

This event is part of We Need To Talk About Chevin & Chevin is BS.

Cut off

Checkpoint 5 = 70 mins.

Runners reaching CP5 (6.5km) after 70 mins will be sent back to the start via the return route.

These very generous cut-offs are set to make sure the marshals can get to their other commitments in good time and that tail runners do not stray too far from the pack.

Navigation

The course will be partially marked. This means basic navigational skills are a requirement. As of all FRA-licensed races, the use of digital navigation equipment is not allowed, a map will be provided to all runners at registration.

It is a proper fell race, one of the best and very inspiring. I told Adam that the Chevin Forest Fell Race in the near future will be a popular fixed appointment of the FRA calendar. Antonio C

Great race. Low key but effective organisation kept it simple but run like clock work. Unfortunate not to able to use the pub as a base but also lucky with weather. Challenging course from the off. Bonus to get a beer at the end. Colm M

Amazing course and support, everything was top-notch. Can’t wait to race again next year! Mariss S

  • Trees not tees

Medals and T-shirts are often a standard provision of race entry, but this can sometimes mean you take home extras you didn't really want (or leave them behind!).

To ensure you get exactly what you want, there is now the option to add a medal or t-shirt to your entry order. This means the event can minimise waste and keep down the cost of the standard entry for all.

If you fancy doing a good deed, you could also make a 'Trees not Tees' donation. This will pay for a tree to be planted...an ever-growing memento of your race day!
