Description
The Brighton Marathon provides the best participant experience with brilliant atmosphere and spectator support, and will limit disruption to the city.
The event once again begins in Preston Park and goes north towards Withdean before taking participants south through the city and past some of Brighton's most iconic landmarks including the Pavilion.
The route then goes into the neighbourhood of Kemptown and follows the coast to Ovingdean past white cliffs before turning back for a breathtaking view of the city.
Participants will then run west along the coast past the Brighton Pier, West Pier and i360 before making their way into the supportive neighbourhoods in Hove.
The Finish Line is back on the seafront at Hove Lawns, taking finishers past the infamous beach huts into the beach village for celebrations.
Fluids and fuel
Drinks, gels and water refill points will be available most miles from mile 4 up to mile 24 along the route.
Pacers
Pacers set a pace from 3:00 to 7:00 hours.

Every year thousands of runners take part in the Brighton Marathon and fundraise for charity. While this is hugely beneficial to the charities it gives the runner advantages too, from supporting a cause that is close to your heart to securing a place in this highly sought-after event and much more.

Benefits of running for charity
Committing to raising money for charity gives you motivation to get outside and run, plus all of these extras which will elevate your event experience:
Fundraising support
Charities know that raising money is all part of the challenge, which is why they provide advice, branded materials and a personalised online fundraising page to help the donations roll in. Think videos for social media, branded imagery and testimonials from previous runners.
Training support
Whether this is your first run or your fifth, you'll need to train for it! You'll receive an in-depth training plan with guidance, plus many charities have access to expert coaches and elite runners too, who can provide exclusive tips for your race preparation. Experts include Runningwithus, Full Potential and five-time Olympian Jo Pavey!
Branded running kit
When you show up on the day, people need to be able to see clearly that you're supporting a charity. Most charities will give you a branded and personalised t-shirt or vest to run in on the big day, and often a training top too.
Support on the day
When you're partway through your run and your energy is flagging, what you need is a boost from cheering spectators to keep you moving. Many charities set up a cheer station along the route, keeping an eye out for you to send up a huge cheer as you run past!
Post-race recovery
Many charities will provide refreshments and a post-race sports massage for their runners. This is the perfect way to recover alongside other people who have run for that cause.
Exclusive social groups
You won't be the only person running for that charity, so it's well worth meeting other runners through the charity's invite-only social media pages! You can organise to meet up for training runs, chat with the charity's expert coaches and share tips and stories with each other to keep the motivation levels running high.
I love the Brighton Marathon. It's my favourite city and I use the event as an excuse for a couple of days party there, having run the marathon in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024 & this year. Excellent organisation of this event. Since LME took over the event, bib numbers are sent in the post, which cuts out the need to travel to the city at least the day before. The bag drop was particularly well staffed last year and worked faultlessly. The volunteers are unfailingly friendly and make the day a pleasure. The race village is busy but everything seems to keep moving. There are plenty of toilets tucked away in the start corrals, which help those in a last minute pee panic. Come and join the party. Jim H, 2025
The race itself was fantastic... Support and marshalls around the course were amazing, a very local feel. The finish of the race is along the promenade and with the weather being nice it made it that little bit more special. I really enjoyed this race and would return to it in the future. Ryan B
Race itself was amazing. Course is a little hilly for the first 10 miles but nothing to be scared of. No steep hills at all. Scenery is breathtaking. I love Brighton. Aid stations are extremely well marshalled and are frequent... What is outstanding about the event is the support. There are so many people to cheer you on. Even in the furthest parts of the course when you need the extra boost the most. I can’t thank enough the residents of Brighton and all that came to support the runners. You can feel that the city is excited for the event. Michael P
Good marathon, a few hills early on the course, but the scenery is beautiful. It was wonderful to run along the coast. Great local support as well with families giving out sweets and oranges. Andrew W
The 10K starts at Hove lawns, runs along the seafront to Sussex Square then back to Hove lawns. This is a well trodden path for 10Ks in Brighton. Owen S
Great course fantastic support for miles and miles, great vocal crowd. I enjoyed it all. Would go back. Great race. Jeff C
