Description
Both of the Duathlon runs are fast out and back routes, showing off the sights of Cardiff Bay along the way. For Run 1, start underneath the finish arch and head out towards the Norwegian church and along the cycle path, taking in the sites of industrial heritage that Cardiff is so renowned for. Then reach the turn around point and race back the way you came into transition ready for the Bike section.
The Bike course takes in 2 laps of a 9k course. Heading out of transition under the shadow of the Wales Millennium Centre you will head along James Street and down Ferry Road. You will turn around at the Morrisons Supermarket roundabout and fly back up the road the way you came. You will then head up Lloyd George Avenue and thrill at the speed on this section, with another turn around to come at the top so that you get to fly down the avenue once again. The lap ends at the entrance to the Oval Basin where once again youβll be under the watchful eye of the Wales Millennium Centre. Unless of course you have another lap to go! This route is on ENTIRELY CLOSED ROADS.
Run 2 takes you out of transition, and head in the same direction as Run 1 but this time you go right up to the Barrage before you turn around. On your way back you get the iconic views of the Pierhead Building, the Wales Millennium Centre, the Senedd so youβll have plenty to keep you motivated as you go for your PB!

The Sprint distance was my first ever triathlon. I'd definitely recommend this event to anyone, and I've already entered for next year's Olympic distance. David J
This is my 3rd Cardiff Tri at Standard distance and again it did not disappoint... Itβs my hometown race and once again, Iβll still come back next year. Eleanor P
This is a very fast course with a pan flat bike and run course. The swim is also very simple... Sam A
Great event. Wanted to take part in this because of its sheer size. Glad I did it was brilliant. Darren V
Last year's Sprint was my first attempt at triathlon. I loved it so much, I entered this year's Olympic distance the following week. David J
The event itself was absolutely amazing! Loads of support even on a rainy day and the transition area in Roald Dahl Plass just made it even more special. The Swim was excellent and really fast in the calm waters of Cardiff Bay. Chris W
Loved Cardiff Tri - completed as my second Olympic distance. Registration day before was nice and easy, good set up of stalls to grab some clobber and we got socks, a cow bell, foam hand and energy bar on sign up. Sarah W
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one. A well organised event with a super friendly events team. Victoria W
