Relatively new to the triathlon calendar, the Devon Duathlon course at Woodbury Common is back for another successful year. Situated in the beautiful East Devon AONB, take on either a standard or sprint distance duathlon exploring this wonderful area. BTF affiliated, with chip timing, transition splits and a great medal to claim at the finish line.
The sprint duathlon, which is a British Triathlon European qualifier for 2024, starts with a 5.4K mixed terrain run with 1K of bridleway that can be muddy and slippery. The bike is an anti-clockwise 22K loop on rolling roads. The final run is a measured out and back 2.5K tarmac run on the first half of the 5k run course. If you’re competing in the qualifier you also need to register as a qualifier on the British Triathlon website.
This duathlon is non-drafting and run in accordance with the British Triathlon Federation rules. A TT or triathlon bike will be fastest on this course but if you’re not a confident and experienced bike handler you will probably find a road bike easier.
The standard distance in 2024 is a European qualifier and will start in a single wave. There will also be a single wave pprint competition which will be limited to 100 competitors.

Sportiva Events is doing its best to minimise the environmental impact of this event. Here are a few of their initiatives:
For all events which include a t-shirt, there is the option to plant a tree instead through a partnership with Treesnottees
New paper cups have been sourced to be fully recycled back into high-grade paper.
Lots of competitors are not interested in finishers' medals so they are now optional. A £2 charity donation is made for every medal not selected.
Swim hats are provided for open water swimming events as they help the water safety teams keep track of swimmers. However for all pool events, swim hats are now on request to reduce wastage.
Reusable zip ties are used and all rubbish is sorted for recycling after the event.
At the Burrator 10K running race those who commit to walking or cycling to the event get £5 discount.
Thank you for organising a great event, absolutely loved it. Marshall’s friendly, well organised, definitely the first of more duathlons for me, might try the standard one next year. Nick Cooper
