Sherwood Pines is located just east of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. It is a stunning 3,300-acre forest with multiple activities to keep families and adrenaline junkies entertained.

Sat nav

The full address for the venue is Sherwood Pines, Edwinstowe, Mansfield NG21 9JL.

If you are using a SatNav for directions then please make sure it is taking you to the main center of the forest and not to an entrance on the south side of the forest.

Half price parking

There is ample parking available in the forest's car parking area which is located just a few minutes walk from the event village. Parking is charged at £10 for the day, but runners will receive a half-price discount code in the event booklet that will be emailed out to you prior to event day. You will need to pay for parking at a kiosk just before you leave.

Accessibility

Unfortunately, neither the half or full marathon routes are suitable for wheelchairs due to it taking part in a forest, through trails and firetracks. The event village is accessible during dry periods but please be aware that it is based on a large grassed area which can become muddy in bad weather.

Public transport

The nearest train stations are Mansfield and Retford.

Mansfield has a public bus to the county park roughly every 15 minutes (Bus No. 14, 15 or 15A to Archway Road or Sherwood Pines). This does vary at the weekend and it is always best to check the timetables before booking. After the bus, there is around a 1-mile walk into the forest to the start line.

It is best to pre-book a taxi to the start line. If you are staying overnight before the event and using public transport, look at places to stay in Edwinstone, Clipstone, or Ollerton.

Description

The start and finish line will be located in the area of the forest called the arena, and in the center will be the event village. When you return to the arena at the end of your run (and halfway through if your taking on the marathon), you will run a loop around the full event village where you can expect support from everyone watching and waiting, as well as the event MC and DJ.

The trails and fire roads will take you around all areas of the forest, from those teaming with life to areas of blissful quiet. The official route will be announced closer to the event but you can expect roughly 250m of elevation on each loop.

This event was new in 2024 however here are some reviews from its sister events by the same organiser:

I can't recommend these guys highly enough - I've done their virtual events back in Covid, I've done their in-person events since, and I've bought several items of merch. All top quality, and they're the friendliest bunch of people. They combine that great personal touch, with the excellent organisation of a much more experienced company.

Excellent organisation, very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, friendly and supportive marshals and runners and great snacks. Course was very nice, lovely location and the wooden medal is amazingly detailed and really nice. My first event with them, and I will be back! Graham

My first event with Rasselbock Running. Very enjoyable experience. Great venue, great support from the organisers and marshalls and fantastic medal and goodybag. Looking forward to my next event. Would definitely recommend. Shaun

Absolutely loved this event - a very friendly, welcoming atmosphere and the format was superb. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back! James

Loved the Rasselbock Spring run at Sherwood Pines. The route was great and the marshals were amazing, very encouraging and friendly. An amazing, relaxed event where it was so easy to exceed what I expected to achieve. Hats off to Eric and his team for a fabulous event. Really special medal too. Laura

I love their live events and have ran in 4 so far and plan to run in many more. Chris
