To run 12 ultramarathons in 12 months (2023 calendar year).
My 3rd entry into GOBYU, aiming to beat my personal record of 16 hours.
Incredible atmosphere for the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, Yorkshire folk really know how to show their support! Fairly hilly route for a road marathon, heading out to Otley and looping back to Leeds via Old Pool Bank (a long, gradual uphill slog). Finished in 3:43, happy with a sub-4 marathon. Looking forward to getting back on the trails, tarmac isn't too kind to the body!
DetailsWell done Tom, it sounds like it was a great atmosphere but you're right, you can't beat the trails.
I'm looking forward to running the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
DetailsOOh - how did you get on, Tom? I remember when you were doing 5Ks and now look :-) Running superstar!
It was a brilliant atmosphere, thousands of people out on the streets of Leeds, Bramhope & Otley :-) I don't fancy the tarmac much but I felt compelled to get involved in this one with it being so local and for a good cause
Fantastic day out walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks with a couple of mates, the weather was very kind to us. More time on feet, more climbs in the legs, more air in the lungs.
Very wet and muddy, but a gorgeous setting for a run. Ran with my friend as we build him up to his first marathon.
Back up to Skipton, this time for another Punk Panther ultra. A very enjoyable circular route from Skipton up to Malham Tarn via Gordale Scar and back. Finished the 34-mile route in 7:11:00.
DetailsSomeone put a huge hill right before the finish line. Finished in 1:55:35.
Winter Wonderland. This trail race largely follows the Welcome Way, a circular trail through moorland landscapes, alongside rivers, canals and reservoirs, across farmland and through woodland. High points include Otley Chevin and Burley and Baildon moors. I finished the 34-mile course in 7:02:51.
DetailsMy 2nd running of the iconic Ilkley Moor Fell Race. What a course! Elbows out with all the club runners...
A scenic race encircling the spa town of Harrogate, mostly on attractive country paths and passing through the spectacular Nidd Gorge. The 35-mile route also incorporates the Knaresborough Round. I finished this one in 6:29:44 and ran the last part with the nice fella in the photo below.
Ran along with a friend at the IGUN Skipton Skidaddle Half Marathon, an out-and-back route along the canal towpath. Finished in 1:47:45.
Taking place on New Years Day and organised by Punk Panther Endurance Events. The North Leeds Greenway is a little-known trail that unites the parks and public green spaces around Leeds. I finished the 34-mile route in 6:30:25, a great way to begin my 2023.
Here's a cracking training run for you Tom with some amazing prizes. https://www.crackpots.run
