Event overview
Basecamp is in Scarborough, famous for its fair, and a popular seaside spa since the 17th century.
The route heads around the town and beaches, and north along the Cleveland Way, with a stunning coastline up through Robin Hood Bay and onwards to Whitby, of Captain Cook and Abbey fame, and the halfway 50km stop.
For full 100km challengers, it’s inland along the Esk Valley before heading south into classic moorland scenery. Through Moors Park Forest, joining the Tabular Hills Walk back to Scarborough basecamp, where a big celebration awaits at the end of an epic challenge!
The Ultra Challenge Experience
This endurance event is for a wide range of fitness and ages. Choose your distance and do it at your pace. The support enables you to go further, whilst enjoying the great outdoors and camaraderie.
There are marquee rest stops, plenty of food and drink, medical and massage teams, and a fully signed route with GPS tracking to guide you. A big finish-line celebration awaits with an amazing sense of achievement, and once the aches subside, you’ll feel energised and up for more of life’s challenges!

On the Full and 1st Half challenges – there’s a new Ultra Trailblazerz® entry category for ‘rapid runners’, and an Ultra March® option for ‘hasty hikers’, plus a friendly ‘Solo Challenger’ start time to join up with others. The North Yorks Ultra Challenge is rewarding and fun, with full support all the way, enabling you to push yourself further amidst England’s finest scenery!

Overview
From the Scarborough basecamp (with camping options) the route heads around the town and beaches, past the castle and then north along the Cleveland Way, with a stunning and historic coastline up through Robin Hood Bay and onwards past Whitby Abbey and on to the welcome finish-line, after a fabulous and unique 50km Ultra. After a well-earned massage and finishers' meal, you can either transfer back to Scarborough, camp with fellow challengers in Whitby, or make your own arrangements.
