Whether running to compete or complete, this is a fantastic route through a peaceful forest with panoramic views of distant mountains.
Map

Description
- The initial 3km are on forestry tracks leading west towards Torlundy. These wide vehicle tracks allow runners to pass each other, spread out, and gently descend for a fast start to the route.
- Joining the Ben Nevis North Face footpath, the route ascends before connecting to the main forestry vehicle track to traverse the length of Leanachan Forest from west to east, finishing along the famous puggy track footpath before veering north.
- A wonderful path now weaves along the Cour River for 2km, before a sneaky right turn connects the route with the Corriechoille forest loop and the opportunity to eyeball the runners ahead and behind as you cross.
- Rejoining The Cour River path, the route now picks up another major forestry track for the next 15km, taking runners on a giant loop into the heart of the Leanachan Forest complex. This whole section is on excellent forest tracks and trails and is extremely runnable. The forest is peaceful, with panoramic views through the trees to distant mountains.
- At 35km, the route starts to climb again, heading back to the Nevis Range arenaโฆ but there is a sting in the tail. The final 7km loop is on excellent trails, and forestry tracks and a fitting end to this outstanding trail marathon route.
- The course will be fully signed, comprehensively waymarked and marshalled.
- The entire route is mandatory.
- The Salomon Skyline Scotland Trail Marathon is part of the UTMB index and contributes towards your 20K ranking.
