Overview
This Formula One mountain running route is designed to meet the criteria for World Championships as specified by the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA). It is a brutally fast and unforgiving test of speed and endurance that packs a mighty punch.
Map

Description
- Runners begin with an initial 2km on wide forestry tracks that climb up through Leanachan Forest so that they become dispersed before joining the narrower MTB track.
- Joining the world-famous UCI World Cup Downhill MTB track, runners climb steeply on twisting purpose-built trails to the top station of the Nevis Range Gondola.
- A few hundred metres of level respite allows runners to catch their breath before they join the Blue Doon downhill MTB track.
- The descent back down the mountain is eye-wateringly fast, following the undulating and banked turns of the Blue Doon. If your legs can withstand the onslaught, you can go extremely fast, but the lactate will burn your thighs in ways most runners have never experienced.
- Re-entering the Leanachan Forest, the route follows MTB trails to a spectacular finish at the centre of the Nevis Range.
- The course will be fully signed, comprehensively waymarked and marshalled.
- The entire route is mandatory.
Cut off
Course closure 6pm.
