Overview
Circle the mighty Ben Nevis on a rugged journey that climbs to the CIC Hut, drops into Glen Nevis and then launches into the big ascent of Sgurr an Iubhair before descending to Kinlochleven. From there, the route dives into the wild heart of Corrour, in the shadow of the Grey Corries. A fast, forested finale through Leanachan and onto MTB trails leads to a spectacular finish at Nevis Range - an adventurous full loop around Scotland’s highest mountain.
Route description
- The runners will ascend gradually via wide forestry tracks before joining the main Allt a ‘Mhuilinn track leading to the CIC Hut. They traverse under the Ben to join the main tourist track, then drop down to Glen Nevis.
- An easy section of forestry tracks lead to the start of the biggest climb of the race, climbing Coire a’Mhusgain to the 1001m summit of Sgurr an lubhair before descending to the aid atation at Kinlochleven.
- Kinlochleven is the last signs of habitation on the route, as the runners head east into the wilds of Corrour on flowing singletrack trails.
- The wild theme continues as singletrack trails lead past many waterfalls of the Abhainn Rath river before climbing north to skirt around the north side of the Grey Corries range that dominates the skyline.
- Re-entering the Leanachan Forest, the route follows MTB trails to a spectacular finish at the centre of the Nevis Range.
- The entire route is mandatory and will be comprehensively waymarked during the race. At all times, runners must follow the established path and marked route without deviations, such as cutting corners in zig-zags paths, or taking a direct line between two points. Failure to observe these rules during the race will result in disqualification. If you are recce’ing the race route in advance of the race, we kindly request that you always stick strictly to the established path on the ground.
- Participants have no special right of way over other recreational users and are reminded to be polite and courteous at all times.

What an amazing weekend. From every runner, supporter, volunteer, organiser, exhibitor and the place itself - WOW. This is the best and most iconic event in the UK.
Incredibly well-organised event! Despite seven races taking place simultaneously, the event village never felt overrun / busy. Even if you were taking part in one of the shorter races or simply spectating, it was inspiring to keep track of all those participating in the longer / more demanding races via the multiple big screens and be able to cheer them across the finish line. Even better was the fact everyone crossed the same finish line - made my shorter event feel a little more special than it already was. Everyone was super supportive too - spectators, marshalls, organisers, fellow participants. I will definitely be returning!
