The MK Half Marathon is a very popular, fast, scenic AIMS-certified race, with BARR Gold accreditation for outstanding race management. Along the course, you’ll see beautiful lakes, parks, and villages and be treated with the highest level of course support. So what are you waiting for? Milton Keynes is calling!

Route description

There's a tremendous amount of natural beauty in Milton Keynes, and a world-class system of cycle paths known as redways. These factors show off this green city, giving runners a course that is scenic, interesting, inspiring, fun to run, fast, and excitingly different from other half marathons. The race leaves the Campbell Park event plateau heading west on the tree-lined Avebury Boulevard and circling the impressive Xscape complex.

Head east on the wide, fast, and flat Childs Way giving runners the opportunity to get into their groove before skirting the top of historic Woolstone. Head northwest past Gullivers Dinosaur and Farm Park and continue around to Newlands towards Willen Lake. Following the north and south lake in a clockwise direction before cutting through the original Milton Keynes Village and following the scenic Ouzel Valley all the way to Caldecotte Lake.

You will then return on the long and flat straight passing through the villages of Woughton-on-the-Green and Woolstone back to Newlands turning left and crossing the Grand Union Canal and into Campbell Park. The race finishes down in the meadow below the light pyramid.

There is a course time limit of 7 hours.

Gold winner

This event has been awarded a Gold athlete-rated badge for consistently high reviews.

My first marathon and I loved it. That was down to just how well organised it was. Marshall support was first class, as were drink stations. Crowd support was so much better than I ever thought it would be. Quite honestly I have nothing but praise for this event and would highly recommend it to others. Thank for making my experience so memorable. Sophie W

Absolutely love this event. I have now ran it 5 times so have earnt my legend medal yeah. The Marshalls are awesome as always as well as the crowds. It feels like a home race for me. And hope to keep doing it as long as I can. I was lucky to get picked to be an Ambassador for the race this year and have loved it. It has great scenery also and they point out places of interest along the route. Becci S

Incredible weekend, can’t wait to compete again!!! Soo much fun, family friendly for all an amazing course and such a good atmosphere you can’t help get sucked in and want more!!! James C

The 5K Rocket is a Great event. We love doing this one. Highly recommended. Well organised and great medals. Yvonne J
