Every day three people in the UK are paralysed due to spinal cord injury.
As the UK’s leading charity, Spinal Research funds medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury.
Clinical treatments and tools are developed to help understand the injury caused, and improve the devastating effects on breathing, hand movement, bladder and bowel control, and daily living.
Our innovative research has funded many experimental treatments to restore movement and feeling in a research laboratory setting and we are determined to see these treatments transferred to the clinic - transforming the lives of paralysed people.
Not only does our medical research benefit people with a spinal cord injury but also other conditions including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, stroke, dementia and motor neurone disease.
