Registration is open now for The Chelmsford Marathon which takes place on Sunday 20th October 2019.
This popular event has a real sense of community and is more personal than the larger marathon events.
Runners get the best of both worlds by running in the city and the scenic North Essex countryside. The single lap course on road and tarmac paths is nice and undulating which keeps it interesting. The atmosphere is brilliant with local people cheering from outside their homes and there is great team spirit amongst the runners.
There are always fantastic marshals, awesome supporters and the runners are out of this world!! Looking after each other all the way, sharing great advice and stories.
Chelmsford Marathon is sponsored by AON.
Using a virtually flat route this accurately measured single lap course starts outside Shire Hall in Chelmsford City Centre and takes runners along the high street and through to Chelmer village and then onto Writtle College and the villages of Roxwell and Willingale before finishing in Central Park.
The Chelmsford Marathon is organised by Havens Hospices to raise money for The J’s Hospice service which cares for young adults aged 16-40 with life-limiting conditions and their families across Essex. The J’s provides tailored nursing and emotional care, advice and social activities in the comfort of their home or in the community, helping them to live life to the full, however short.
There are prizes/trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male and Female; 1st in age categories from Vet 1 to Vet 8; and 1st Male & Female affiliated team (3 to count).
