Our award-winning race has won Best Marathon (Up To 5000 runners) at The National Running Awards for the last 2 years running. Running in both England & North Wales, our international route is a wonderful mix of city centre sights and rural villages, with amazing support from our volunteer team & friendly locals.
We support our runners from the minute they sign up to the race. Our resident Coach, Dave Taylor, provides training plans for novice, improver & advanced runners which can be found on our website. We put on local, monthly training runs where our runners can get used to running in a group, meet our pace runners & ask our team questions.
We gradually increase the distance as race day approaches and provide race day nutrition & hydration for runners to try. We present webinars on our social media channels covering everything you need to know about training for a marathon, from what to wear, what to eat & drink, how to stretch & how to keep injury free. These webinars are also available on our website & YouTube channel.
All finishers will receive a quality technical long-sleeved T-shirt, bespoke weighty medal and a well-stocked goody bag.
Make sure you bring the family on race day. Not only do we have a family zone next to our Help Desk with some games & colouring, we have a family Mini Marathon.
The course is approximately 1 mile and is entirely in the safe confines of Chester Racecourse. Runners must sign up in advance & all finishers get a fabulous medal, t-shirt & goody bag.
Active Leisure Events have organised the MBNA Chester Marathon for over 10 years. The race began in 2010 when friends Andy White & Chris Hulse recognised that Cheshire was missing a marathon distance race and set about staging the first one. The Metric Marathon was added in 2014.
As runners ourselves, we are passionate about delivering what for us would be the perfect race; a premier quality, competitively priced race which caters for the needs of runners of all abilities and speeds, combined with friendliness and personal touches which are unique to us.

Funding medical research projects to secure a future without prostate cancer.
Last year 56,000 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK. They are someone's grandfather, father, brother, or son.
Whilst prostate cancer is treatable in the prostate, once it spreads to other parts of the body, it becomes incurable and life-limiting. Our aim is simple: to fund the ground-breaking research into developing patient first treatments, which provide hope and a future for men and their families.
Thanks to our fundraisers, we have recently increased the number of medical research projects we fund by 175%. It is our hope that this will lead to further breakthroughs and the development of future therapies for men with prostate cancer.
This is a common concern but once you get signed up and start fundraising the team at Prostate Cancer Research Centre will have plenty of tips for reaching (and smashing!) the target. If you think you're going to struggle, the best thing to do is have a chat with them as each charity has its own approach.
Just click 'Find out more now' and fill in the enquiry form to get their contact details - if you put your question in, someone from their team will get back to you.
