The team-orientated event of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival! Perfect for teaming up with family, friends or colleagues.
Once a year, thousands upon thousands of runners descend upon Edinburgh for a weekend of fun, festivities and sweat, all in the name of charity. With a wide range of races and distances on offer, there’s an event to suit runners of all ages and abilities, whatever your training programme.
One event at EMF that stands out from the crowd is the Hairy Haggis Team Relay. Essentially, it’s the full marathon distance split into four. It’s the perfect event for families, friends and companies and the perfect personification of the phrase 'strength in numbers'.
For one weekend in May, in a city famous for its culture and festivals, running and raising money is the talk of the town. Why not spend the weekend exploring everything Edinburgh has to offer, including this epic running festival!
Charities depend on the goodwill and effort of their supporters to survive, so make your race day a true cause for celebration by choosing to run and raise money for one of the many worthy causes.
The four legs of the marathon route are split into distances of 8.4, 5.6, 7.6 and 4.6 miles respectively, allowing you to adjust your race tactics to suit each team member. The Edinburgh Marathon is famed for fast times, so splitting the race up should see you set some explosive times. Remember, the more impressive the achievement, the bigger the likely donations.
The route begins in Holyrood Park and winds its way through the city, right up to Longniddry before heading back to the finish by Musselburgh Racecourse.
The Edinburgh Marathon Festival has a choice of runs making it open to a wide range of ages and abilities, including:

Help us be there for young people who need us.
Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. We’re the only charity dedicated to providing expert care and support from the moment they hear the word cancer. We treat them as young people first, cancer patients second and everything we do aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival.

Care and support through terminal illness.
Marie Curie provides around the clock support to people in the UK living with a terminal illness. Either in people's homes or in their hospices, nurses help patients achieve the best quality of life possible, managing pain and providing emotional support to the whole family.
Funds you raise can help them reach more people, £20 could pay for one hour or £180 could provide nine hours of nursing support through the night, for someone in the comfort of their own home bringing the expert care and comfort families need.

The blood cancer research charity
Blood cancer is the third biggest cancer killer, claiming more lives than breast or prostate cancer every year.
Bloodwise has been beating blood cancer since 1960 with REAL results: In 1960 fewer than 1 in 10 children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia survived. Today nearly 8 in 10 do.
You're helping fund world-class research projects that make this difference - with life-changing results.
Help us work towards a world without blood cancer.
