Every day three people in the UK are paralysed due to spinal cord injury.
As the UK’s leading charity, Spinal Research funds medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury.
Clinical treatments and tools are developed to help understand the injury caused, and improve the devastating effects on breathing, hand movement, bladder and bowel control, and daily living.
Our innovative research has funded many experimental treatments to restore movement and feeling in a research laboratory setting and we are determined to see these treatments transferred to the clinic - transforming the lives of paralysed people.
Not only does our medical research benefit people with a spinal cord injury but also other conditions including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, stroke, dementia and motor neurone disease.

Making the discoveries that defeat cancer.
We work on all cancer types including children's cancers, pancreatic, brain & lung cancer. Tragically, one in three of us will develop cancer in our lifetime. And even if we are not directly affected, almost all of us will be moved by the pain and suffering cancer causes to a relative or friend.
The ICR is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes. Our scientists and clinicians are working every day in our labs to make a real impact on cancer patients’ lives.
Whether you’ve been affected by cancer, or whether you simply want to further world-leading research, please get involved and support us today.

Together we can find and fund the bold ideas that will one day cure cancer.
We are a charity which funds research into any type of cancer anywhere in the world.
We fund projects in the world’s best research institutions. We fund some of the world’s most diverse and unexpected projects. We fund world-renowned specialists and up and coming talent. We do all those things for one very good reason - to gain a global perspective. Because research doesn’t happen in isolation. The answers will not come from one scientist, in one lab, in one country.
This worldwide research will enhance our understanding of cancer and help us find and develop better, more effective treatments. Treatments personalised to your unique needs. Treatments you, your family or your family’s family may rely on in the future.
To realise our vision of no life cut short by cancer the research can never stop. Join our team today to keep it going.

Offering specialist one-to-one support and expert advice for families living with dementia through our world-class Admiral Nurses.
Our renowned Admiral Nurses work hand in hand with families, helping them cope with the fear, uncertainty and difficult everyday reality of dementia. They were named by the family of Joseph Levy CBE BEM, who founded the charity. Joseph had vascular dementia and was known affectionately as “Admiral Joe” because of his love of sailing.
Living with dementia can be an incredibly hard and lonely experience for both the person with dementia and their loved ones. We provide the compassionate, expert support families need every step of the way - helping everyone in that family to live more positively with dementia in the present; and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence.
We believe passionately that everyone who needs the support of an Admiral Nurse should get one - that’s why we’re working hard to increase the number of nurses across the UK.
