Attracting over 1,500 participants this is one of the biggest events in the Essex race calendar - miss this & you'll miss out! A major fundraising event for Havens Hospices, entries will help support this remarkable charity and provide palliative nursing and supportive care to children, young people and adults living with complex or incurable conditions in Essex. The Chelmsford Marathon 2023 (26.2 miles) is a single lap course on road and tarmac paths. The race starts at Shire Hall in the city centre and finishes in Central Park. The scenic rural route takes participants out through the city and through beautiful countryside, with its *hills and pretty villages. An avenue of Autunm trees takes runners onto the finish line. The race draws a large crowd, with supporters along parts of the route to cheer you on. The race is hugely popular among runners, and comes highly recommended for the following reasons - great course, great atmosphere, enthusiastic marshalls, the event village, being well organised, the bespoke medal and lovely quality t-shirt - to name a few! The Chelmsford Half Marathon 2023 (13.1 miles) is an 'out & back course with stunning views. A unique event with the sharp turns of city streets and long winding country roads. A flatter course than the full marathon, the half is a fantastic opportunity for regular 10K runners looking to challenge themselves with a longer race.
