'Ruddy' Rothwell's Cakeathon | Marathon

For this new event runners will enjoy the 'essential' food 'CAKE' at every point, at the food stations, at the 'huge' finishing table (where there will be cakes of every flavour) and in the glorious medal which will of course capture the theme. Set in Rothwell park runners will simply need to choose which distance they fancy. The course will comprise of a five mile loop meaning runners are never far from base and will feel well supported .The route is undulating in places but will be manageable for both beginners as well as the experienced runner. Having completed their race, runners will (as always) be encouraged to stay around and have a chat with friends, and enjoy the post race feast. Rewards- Goodie bag with beer/cider or none alcoholic drink and chocolate Medal- a bespoke medal will be awarded to all runners Awards- A trophy is awarded to both male and female taking first place in each distance Feed Stations and Finishing table-Feed stations are every 2.5 miles and will offer water, juice, sweets, biscuits, cake and salted potatoes. A full array of cakes will then await at the finish line with a new option to create your own 'Cake Kebab' preventing you from having to make that difficult decision and allowing you to taste several flavours.
