There are a number of centenaries in 2023 and another of them is 100 years since the Flying Scotsman came in to service.
Perhaps the most famous of all the steam trains. Becoming the first steam locomotive to be officially authenticated as reaching 100 miles per hour on 30 November 1934 and then for good measure in 1989 setting the world record for the longest non-stop run by a steam train - 422 miles - in Australia whilst on tour. This train is that famous! Whilst the Flying Scotsman retired with over 2 million miles on it's wheels you'll be able to earn this excellent piece of bling with considerably fewer miles on your legs! The event will be a six hour timed challenge event based out of the Cyclopark Complex at Gravesend (although the routes won't actually be in the Cyclopark area we're just using their facilities and parking) and the route will be a mixture of trail, bike paths and tarmac and not flat either, but not too hilly either before you panic!
