Discover the diverse and demanding desert on this incredible trek.
From flat desert floor scattered with ancient fossils to perfect wind-blown sand-dunes, the vast, unforgiving Sahara is a truly mesmerising place. Accompanied by Berber guides and a small caravan of camels we'll spend days walking over the endless sands.
At night, the incredible star-strewn skies create an inky canvas overhead. Our remote night-camps with campfires and Berber singing are often a real highlight of the trip!
Day 1: UK - Ouarzazate
Pronounced ‘Wazzazat’, this busy town is located on the edge of the desert.
Day 2: Ouarzazate - Tazzerine (trek approx 3 hours)
Drive over the impressive Jbel Saghro hills to reach the desert town of Tazzerine, followed by a trek through palms to our desert camp.
Day 3: Desert Trek (trek approx. 6-8 hours)
Set off along a dry river, passing through small oases and low dunes. We head out into the desert hills, passing occasional small tamarisk trees that manage to flourish in this harsh environment, providing a little shade. We camp in a sheltered spot among the hills.
Day 4: Taghbalt - Ouarzazate (trek approx 4 hours)
Continue through low hills before we emerge in the open desert, with inspiring views of the barren mountains. The terrain becomes firmer as we reach the remote town of Taghbalt for transport to Ouarzazate. An evening celebration awaits!
Day 5: Ouarzazate - UK
Departure from Ouarzazate, flight back home.
