This course is the original race in the series and welcomes all abilities of runners.
The exciting, new Ascent Trail Series presents competitive races on challenging terrain to the trail running community with race distances suitable for those new to trail racing, as well as seasoned trail runners looking for new challenges.
The course includes several hill climbs, and competitors have the opportunity to battle for the fastest time on each climb. This means that even if you do not get the fastest overall course time, you're still in with a chance to claim a hill climb title.

Raise expectations, believe in yourself
The aim of this event is to allow participants to ascend from their perceived expectations of what they believe is possible, through trail running.
Founder and Race Director - Martin Richardson
Established in 2023, the Ascent Trail Series is the vision of local Knatts Valley resident and trail runner Martin Richardson.
A committed competitive club runner, Martin moved to the countryside in 2021 with his family and quickly discovered the endless miles of beautiful trails on his doorstep. Eager to share his love of trails with the community, the first trail race was mapped, and the idea to create a series of trail races began.

This event combines music, food, adventure and community and strives to connect runners to the natural environment in which it is hosted.
Set in the Knatts Valley just north of Sevenoaks, surrounded by the idyllic countryside villages of Otford, Shoreham and Eynsford, this course is the original race in the Ascent Trail Series.
The race is open to all abilities of runners, and takes on some challenging climbs along some hidden trails, making a truly original and technical route.
