Fancy something different to a 5K or 10K race this Autumn? Introducing the Crazy Legs Eliminator Mile and 1 Mile Challenge races.
Age 16 & over
The One-Mile loop has been officially measured, taking in the paths in the mainly traffic-free Woodbank Park and running track and so these two new events are being trialed. So, how do they work?
The Eliminator – 4 x 1 mile laps
Lap 1 starts: 10:00 prompt on the Woodbank racetrack
Gather in the start pen ready to go and once the clock starts, you have a set time to get back to the start pen ready for the next lap to begin. It's about 100m from the finish line to the start pen. Anyone who has not completed their current lap before the next one starts OR who has completed their lap but is NOT in the start pen at the exact time the next lap starts will be eliminated.
As the lap time is reduced each time you need to keep increasing your pace to stay within the cut off time, failure to reach the cut off will see you eliminated. There is approx 100m between the finish of one lap and the start of the next.
For Lap 1 you have 20 minutes, Lap 2 is 12 minutes, Lap 3 is 8 minutes and Lap 4 is 6 minutes.
The 1 Mile Challenge
Starts: 11:00 prompt on the Woodbank racetrack.
A single lap around the same course as The Eliminator, without the pressure of cut off times. If you don’t fancy being eliminated but do want to test yourself to see what time you can run a mile in then this race is for you.
Power of 10 Rankings
As the route has been officially measured, your chip timed result for each full lap you complete can be accepted as an official time in the Power of 10 rankings.
This event is part of Eliminator Challenge Races.
